1. What a fitness coach has to do with your website success

Some people think that getting a website on Google's first result page can be done by purchasing the right product of service. You just have to click a few buttons and that's it. Unfortunately, that's not possible.

There are many tools and services that promise quick results with little work. People who used this tools had to learn it the hard way that it is not a good idea to use these 'shortcuts' tools. Google's recent updates have penalized the site that tried to game the system with automated tools.

If it was that easy to get high rankings on Google then everybody could get high rankings. However, it's obvious that only some websites will make it to Google's first result page and Google chooses these websites carefully.

What a fitness coach has to do with your website success

There are many similarities between optimizing a website and working with a fitness coach:

  1. You must be willing to change

Good SEO programs and SEO services will tell you what you have to do but the work is up to you. You must also be willing to implement the changes on your website. Take the advice of your SEO fitness coach and do something. Try to improve your website.

Do not search for reasons why improvement is not possible. Do the things that are necessary to bring your website into shape even if it requires some work.

  2. You must be honest to yourself

If you want to be fitter then you shouldn't go to the refrigerator at night and pretend that you didn't. If you want to get higher rankings on Google, you shouldn't sabotage your search engine optimization efforts by doing things with your website that you like but aren't recommended by the SEO service.

  3. It helps a lot if you have the right equipment

It's easier to work out if you have the right equipment. If you want to run long distances, you need running shoes. If you want to get on Google's first result page, you need a good domain name, a good server, clean web pages and a good SEO tool. It will be much easier to get good results then.

  4. SEO fitness coachIt's risky to game the system

If you want to be fitter without working out, you might take some pills. This can work for some time but ultimately, the pills will make you sick and destroy your body. If you want to get quick search engine optimization results, you might consider spammy techniques that promise immediate or very fast results.

These methods can work for some time but Google detects all spam methods sooner or later and your website will be banned from the index.

If you're not afraid of change then your website will get the rankings that it deserves. It's not easy to get top 10 rankings on Google but it's also not difficult if you do the right things.

Search engines StartPage and Ixquick deploy newest encryption standards against mass surveillance

"Private search engines StartPage and Ixquick have pioneered a new advance in encryption security this week, becoming the first search engines in the world to enable "Perfect Forward Secrecy" or PFS in combination with a more secure version of SSL encryption known as TLS 1.1. and 1.2 , which works by setting up a secure 'tunnel' through which users' search traffic cannot be intercepted."

Matt CuttsMatt Cutts on multiple domain names: avoid massive cross-linking schemes
"Matt Cutts brings up the topic of the proper way to handle multiple domains. Should you be linking them altogether?

In the past, it was quite common to see a website linked to 20 or 30 different related websites. But in a lot of those situations, the sites were pretty spammy. And this is the one caveat that Cutts brings up in the video.

Cutts said if you have multiple sites you want to link together you need to have a very good reason to be linking them together, otherwise it will come across as being spammy. Why do you have 20 domain names that you feel should be all cross-linked?

Cutts said about the only situation where this kind of solution is viable is if you're linking multiple country site for the same company together. But even then, he suggested that you do it in a way that won't come across as spamming."

Google's Matt Cutts: don't worry about duplicate content (if it's not spammy)

In a video on YouTube, Google's Matt Cutts says that duplicate content won't hurt your website as long as it is not spammy.

Google will just ignore the duplicate content. If the duplicate content is spammy or keyword stuffing, it can lead to problems.

Editor's note: In general, Google does not penalize websites for duplicate content. They just pick one version of the content and ignore the rest. If your web page is not detected as the original source of the content, it will be ignored.

GoogleGoogle confirms another Panda update

"I noticed a possible Panda update was rolling out, one that seemed to be “softer” in nature than the previous updates, where many webmasters who were originally hit by the algorithm are now claiming recovery.

Google has confirmed a Panda update is rolling out and this specific update is 'more finely targeted.'"

"Google has confirmed that there are current issues with displaying authorship rich snippets on 'very few sites.' A Google spokesperson told us “it’s something we’re actively working on” but that 'it affects very few sites' on the Internet."
