1. Four steps to succeed with your website promotion campaigns
People who are new to search engine optimization and website promotion often want immediate results. Unfortunately, the competition on the Internet is fierce.

Search engine optimization is a marathon. It's not a sprint. If you want to reach the finish line, you have to have to get in shape. If you want to get high rankings on search engines, there are several things that you have to do:

Get in shape for better rankings

1. Be willing to change and be willing to work

Good SEO programs and SEO services will tell you what you have to do but the work is up to you. You must implement the proposed changes to your website. Take the advice of your SEO fitness coach and do something. Try to improve your website.

Do not search for reasons why any improvement is not possible. Do the things that are necessary to bring your website into shape even if it requires some work.

2. Be honest to yourself

If you want to be fitter then you shouldn't go to the refrigerator at night and pretend that you didn't. If you want to get higher rankings on Google, you shouldn't torpedo your search engine optimization efforts by doing things with your website that you like but aren't recommended by the SEO experts.

3. It helps a lot if you have the right equipment

It's easier to work out if you have the right equipment. If you want to run long distances, you need running shoes. If you want to get on Google's first result page, you need a good domain name, a good server, clean web pages and a good SEO tool. It will be much easier to get good results then.

4. Do not try to game the system

If you want to be fitter without working out, you might take some pills. This can work for some time but ultimately, the pills will make you sick and destroy your body.

If you want to get quick search engine optimization results, you might consider spammy techniques that promise immediate or very fast results.

These methods can work for some time but Google will detect all spam methods sooner or later and your website will be banned from the index.

If you're not afraid of change then your website will get the rankings that it deserves. It's not easy to get first page rankings on Google but it's also not difficult if you do the right things.

2. Search engine news and articles of the week
Google investigating Polish hacker who is stealing webmaster rankings

"The problem is that Google algorithm in many cases considers the malicious copy put by hacker on website A as THE ORIGINAL and the website B (our website which is the original) disappears from Google results. What's more, even after removing the hacked address of website A from the Google index our website (B) does not come back to the Google ranking.

So we are disappearing from the Google ranking without any fault of us (the hacker does not hack us but somebody else). The hacker hacks other servers because he doesn't want to be caught but in fact he could do this (make copies of our websites) on his own server and then due to algorithms failure we also would disappear from the results."

GoogleGoogle: new botnet protections across our ads systems

"Keeping fake traffic that originates from infected computers (aka 'botnets') out of our ads systems has been a priority since we launched, and over the years we've worked hard to put in place extensive technology checks and filters to safeguard against this type of traffic.

Today we're further reinforcing our existing botnet defenses across our ad systems through a new feature that automates the filtering of traffic from three of the top ad fraud botnets, amongst those we are monitoring and defending against."

Google AdWords: no more Flash ads

"Starting June 30th, 2016, display ads built in Flash can no longer be uploaded into AdWords and DoubleClick Digital Marketing. Starting January 2nd, 2017, display ads in the Flash format can no longer run on the Google Display Network or through DoubleClick."

GoogleGoogle: request a change to a Knowledge Graph card in search results

"If you officially represent a topic that has a Knowledge Graph card in Google search results, you can request changes to that card. To be recognized by Google as an 'official representative,' you need to be signed in as an owner of the topic's official website, YouTube channel, or Google+ page."

What will change for SEOs with real time Penguin

"The first thing will be that if your pages are affected by Penguin, then generally you will be able to get the read of that effect much faster.

So you would be able to – you would definitely be able to – see that something is going on like your rankings are dropping, you can easily think back to what you did, what you changed, if anything, on the site or external to the site, like site SEO or link building or whatever, and then revert those changes and see if that fixes it."
